IN MEMORY OF A VERY DEAR FRIEND OF THE ANTIQUE WORLD IN NASHVILLE TN

The antique world in Nashville lost a very dear friend on March 29th.

She was a constant exhibitor at the Nashville Flea Market for over twenty years.  That is where I met her.  She and her sister-in-law, Barbara, were always there with their wonderful early antiques.  The whole family was into restoring and refinishing antiques.   One of the first pieces of primitives I ever bought was from Barbara and was a wonder blanket box in early blue paint (which I still own).

When you look at the pictures of the antiques in my house, most of then were done by someone in this family.  Even Wanda's mother, who was 83 years old at the time, refinished a large wardrobe for me.

Wanda and her husband Walter taught me how to refinish antiques.  They explained how to sand, what sealer and type of finish to use, and what type of wood I was working with and what needed to be done to achieve the best finish.  Even though most people like antiques in their original finish, what this family did was turn a piece of worn-down, abused furniture back into the original finish that the person who created it meant it to be!

Wanda always had a smile on her face...even when you knew the ravages of rheumatoid arthritis was taking over her body.

Barbara, Wanda's sister-in-law, lost her husband and Wanda's brother, a couple of weeks before Wanda died.

We'll miss you dear friends and may God comfort the remaining members of this family!
